Wow, what a beautiful weekend it was for a seaside wedding on Kiawah Island!

This is where Rob and I spent the past couple of days celebrating two of our dear friends, Will and Emily, tying the knot!

After wandering around Charleston on Friday afternoon, the fiancé and I continued onward to Kiawah Island for the weekend wedding festivities. We arrived just in time on Friday to dig into some wonderful seafood at the rehearsal dinner, held at Cinder Creek Pavilion.
It was every man for himself at the oyster shucking table. How great is that setup?

The food was incredible and the atmosphere was super laid back… it was the perfect way to kick off the celebrations.

With the ceremony at 6:30pm on Saturday, Rob and I had the day to sleep in, crank out a 45 minute jog along the Island’s beautiful trails and enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach complete with an ice cold beer. I mean, we had to put our new Koozies to use, right?

The wedding itself was beautiful. I’ve always thought less is more when it comes to weddings and this was simplicity at its best. Adorable signs welcomed the guests.

I love this old window painted with the bridal party’s names in place of a traditional wedding program.

and can we talk about this “Shoe Check”? I’ve never been to a wedding before where shoes were optional! Love.

The setting couldn’t have been more perfect with a slight breeze at our backs and not a cloud in the sky. The sun was just beginning to set when the beautiful bride made her way down the “isle”, barefoot, may I add.

I mean, once I saw the groom shed a tear, I was a goner. Thank goodness for sunglasses.

A quick rinse of our feet and we were off to the beachside reception at The Sandcastle for cocktail hour and a beautiful view of the happy couple posing for a few photos. There were even some unexpected wedding crashers in the bushes. Can you spot them ?

What a beautiful day for such a beautiful couple.

I’m completely inspired by the simple elegance of their wedding. I’m even more excited to start planning my own now that I’ll have more time once school finishes up!
Congrats Emily & Will! Love you both!
