Hi friends! Thanks so much for the incredible support you’ve shown for the Elf for Health Holiday Challenge. Lindsay and I are truly amazed at the camaraderie we’ve seen surrounding this challenge. We have over 300 elves already and the list continues to grow by the minute! The daily challenges focus on eating well, exercise, self-love and acts of kindness to help us take a little bit better care of our minds and bodies during this busy & festive time of year. Just a reminder, if you’re not signed up yet, you have until Friday at midnight to get in on the first round.
Midweek Eats will be back next Wednesday but I wanted to give you a taste of what’s in store, as well as what’s in my belly.
Breakfast this morning was my usual Greek yogurt & granola but I tossed in some homemade candied grapefruit peel to wake up my tastebuds this morning.
That plus a massive mug of cafe con leche, foamed to perfection, and I’m ready to finish up my third, and final draft of my Master’s thesis today.
I’ve been pushing myself a little harder this week workout-wise trying to earn my Thanksgiving feast before I eat it. Doing 10 extra minutes of cardio or strength work each day this week breaks it up so I won’t feel like I need to spend time twice the time at the gym this weekend working off that extra glass of red wine and serving of mashed potatoes.
- Sunday: 4 1/2 mile run (as opposed to my usual 4 miler)
- Monday: 30 minutes of arc trainer, 50 pushups, bicep + shoulder press + lunge tabatas, 30 balancing side leg lifts
- Tuesday: 20 minute power walk around the neighborhood at lunchtime + 60 minutes power yoga tonight with the hubs-to-be once my final draft is submitted
- Tomorrow: Turkey Tabata Workout – I’ll post it at midnight for you early birds. (Haha, get it, early birds…) The only equipment needed is, yep, you know it, a 10-20 pound turkey (still wrapped, of course) – it’s meant to be done before that bird gets stuffed and put into the oven.
Well, time to hunker down and get back to my business plan. The only section left to write is the Financial Plan which should be fun since it involves looking up prices for home office supplies and a pretty Excel spreadsheet. I saved the best for last.
Have a great day friends!
Question of the Day: Have you scheduled any sort of pre-Thanksgiving feast exercise? If not, try it – even if it’s just 20 minutes in between bastings!
PS. If you just can’t wait, check out this candied orange peel from last year – I used the same recipe and substituted grapefruit peel this time around!
