biting into beantown

Thanksgiving came and went and I haven’t stopped for a moment since. The hubs-to-be and I are just getting back from a fabulous few days in Boston. On top of kicking off the Elf for Health Holiday Challenge with Lindsay, my weekend agenda was packed with my best friend’s baby shower, a holiday party, 2 very nice dinners out with friends and family, finishing my Master’s thesis presentation, 3 blustery but beautiful runs, a full day of shopping on Newbury Street yesterday and lots of Dunkin’ Donuts.

Breakfast at the airport before our flight back to NC this morning was a taste of home–a perfectly toasted Everything Bagel with a large cup of piping hot French Vanilla coffee from Dunkin’s. We don’t really have Dunkin’s down south quite like they do in Boston.

Since we were traveling, I braved the blustery winds and ran the same 3.2 mile loop Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was cold but the late day sunlight sure was beautiful on Saturday!

Yesterday was an active rest day– and by that I mean it was a successful shopping day with my best friend. We wandered up and down Newbury Street and worked up a sweat trying on all sorts of beautiful dresses and sweaters.

I snagged this sweater from Madewell, a cream peplum top and sweater from Zara and a cute pair of winter shorts from H&M. In-store Cyber Monday sales for the win!

Now that we’re back home, it’s time to put the finishing touches on my Master’s thesis and presentation. My parents and Rob’s parents are coming into town for my thesis presentation on Thursday and grad school graduation ceremony on Friday. I can’t even believe the big day is almost here!

Elf for Health Challenge Update: We have over 700 elves participating in Round 1 – and almost 800 signed up for Round 2! Lindsay and I are seriously impressed with the support this little community has shown us. Yesterday’s challenge as Meatless Monday–and our daily challenge winner was Mary Catherine. She rocked out 3 meatless meals and did it despite her elf being MIA. We’ve since found her a replacement elf but how awesome?!

Today’s challenge is to write a handwritten note for someone. Even if you’re not participating in the challenge, handwritten notes will always make someone’s day brighter so give it a try! If you want in on the second round of the Challenge (starts December 10th), you can sign up here.

Have a great day, friends!

Do you have to sign up for round two of the challenge again if you are already a part of round 1?

No, only new elves need to sign up! :)

I just signed up but for some reason it wasn’t letting me put in my blog URL, so it’s just my name and e-mail! Is there any way to update that or is it necessary? Thanks!

Dunkin Donuts is the best. We finally got one on the other side of town where I live and I’m thinking of going this weekend after church :)

Bagels are my favorite thing to treat myself with! I ended up sending out three letters today and I was surprised how good it made me feel. Good luck with your presentation!

Bagels are my comfort food too. I love a salt bagel from Bruegger’s but this is my second choice. I felt the same way about my handwritten notes… thinking I might try to make it a weekly thing – Snail Mail Sunday!
