a healthier me in 2013: my mini-resolutions

December 31, 2012

This year I’m choosing three mini-resolutions to improve my physical, emotional & worldly wellbeing in 2013.

  • Physical Wellbeing: I’m going sweetener-free. This will by far be the toughest resolution this year. After a year-long weaning period, I’ve gotten down to 1 packet in my coffee every morning as well as one diet soda once a month or so. It’ll be the real deal from here on out though.

  • Emotional Wellbeing: I’ve added #snailmailsunday to my calendar (repeating every Sunday until the end of time) to remind me to be a better friend and family member this year. If I don’t have time to hand write a note to a loved one, I’ll pick up the phone and catch up with a friend that way. I just switched my phone plan to “unlimited talk & text” and bought myself some cute notecards to get me in the spirit. Feel fee to participate, too! Just use the #snailmailsunday hashtag on Twitter & Instagram.

  • Worldly Wellbeing: I love Clorox Cleanup as much as the next person but  I’ve become more aware of the toxicity of harsh, household cleaning products – and how unnecessary they are for simple cleaning jobs in the kitchen & bathroom. In 2013, I’ll be mixing up some of these natural cleaner recipes to overhaul my cluttered & toxic cleaning supply cabinet. Here’s what I’m stocking up on.

These mini-resolutions are  fun – I know I can stick to every one of them which makes me excited for the New Year already!

Are you making any resolutions for a better you in 2013?

I am hijacking your #2 resolution! I always complain that letter writing is a lost art form and such an easy way to show someone you are thinking of them.

Those are great resolutions! I like that they’re totally doable. I need to come up with some of my own :)

Numbers one and two are fantastic! I am way too reliant on sweetners and I really don’t like that. I do LOVE the snail mail idea!

Snail mail Sunday is so cute!! I’m definitely going to take a look at some of those cleaning solutions. I’m game to make the world a less toxic place. :)

Such cute mini-resolutions! I’m making a few mini-ones too…not so much resolutions as much as things I want to keep in mind to make my life easier and better. I love this time of year, focusing on bettering yourself. Although I could do without the yearly rush at the gym…

I love the mini resolution idea. So many people set themselves up for failure when we need to set small, reasonable goals. Love the #snailmailsunday one! I may steal that. Happy 2013!

I love these mini-resolutions!! I especially like the third one – I try so hard to eliminate toxins from the food I eat, why not do the same for my home? Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!

Kicking the sugar is a big deal. Great job!

I love that most of your resolutions are outwardly focused-sending letters, making calls and being conscious of the environment.

Happy new year!

I love the idea of snailmailsunday! It’s so easy to get wrapped up in things that taking time out to reconnect with people outside of social networking can be tough! Looking forward to see what 2013 brings :)

Love the idea of a “mini-resolution”, sounds much less daunting & more manageable. You can totally do the sweetener one, I kicked diet Coke this year! As for me, I’m aiming to “relax more” in 2013. Taking more time to “just be” in whatever form necessary. Happy New Year!

Great mini-resolutions. I’m totally with you that sometimes less is better. :) I really like the snail mail Sunday idea to help stay connected with family and friends. I also love the switch to more environmentally-friendly cleaning products. I’d love to know which products you find work well and which don’t. Happy 2013! :D

I love the cute stationary and unlimited calling / texting idea. Even with FB and Twitter, I feel so disconnected from people sometimes – I think focusing on more real interaction will help with that!

I love the cute stationary/snail mail idea. I’m such a huge enthusiast for it lately. I’m all about hand-written notes!

Ugh I am still working on cutting down to one sweetener packet in my coffee! Cutting out sweeteners completely might be the way to go! Great realistic resolutions!
