growing to-do lists

January 31, 2013

Hi friends! Lindsay and I just want to say a huge thanks for all the #healthysELF love we saw yesterday. There are already close to 250 elves on board for the new Healthy sELF Challenge. If you missed yesterday’s announcement, check out what we’ve been plotting the past few weeks. Here’s a hint: there are a bunch of elves on a mission to get stronger, eat better, sleep more and grow our self-love this year – we’d love for you to join in on the fun!

So life’s gotten a bit hectic over past couple of weeks – the fiancé and I are simultaneously moving, selling my home, my car, apartment hunting and planning our wedding.

I’m also taking the RD exam in a few weeks because without my RD, job searching will be half-hearted since most clinical positions require I have those credentials. Studying commenced yesterday with a large vanilla latte made with love and a binder full of the most boring study materials on the planet – certainly no competition for Mr. Romney’s binders.

There’s likely going to be a lot of caffeine circulating in my body and spontaneous tears shed from stress and sleep deprivation over the next month or so. On the up side, I’m putting sugar in my coffee these days (still sweetener-free!) and am becoming quite proficient at writing to-do lists. Every task checked off is a mini-victory and soon the packing, moving, wedding planning and studying lists will start shrinking – at least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Are you a list-writer yourself? How do you cope when your to-do lists only seem to be getting longer?

You’re on the brink of so many exciting things! That has to make studying a little easier, hopefully : ) I loove to-do lists and definitely often write tasks after the fact just so I can cross them off. It makes me feel accomplished and keeps me going on to the next thing.
Good luck studying!

I feel you on the coffee and boring binders. I’m in my last semester of graduate school and writing a thesis, so pretty much anything that CAN distract me from my work DOES distract me. Somehow I’m a lot more focused when imbibing large amounts of caffeine, sigh. I’m trying to stick to no more than two cups a day, but it is definitely a challenge. Good luck on your exam!

Epically long to-do lists are sometimes the only way to get through. Keep crossing things off and drinking lots of coffee along the way, you’ll get through it!

I am a big list maker. If I have to do anything, there is a list involved! I try to add fun things and things I’ve already completed to my list as well. It helps me to have a few things already crossed off plus if I add painting my toes, it’ll give me a nice break within all of the chaos!

I am a total to-do list writer! I think writing it down helps me get my thoughts organized, and I always love being able to cross a complete task off the list :) Helps me feel accomplished haha

I’m a MAJOR list writer. I generally have multiple to-do lists going at the same time. Slightly insane, but it works well for me. :)

I seriously need to separate my lists – I’m currently operating on one sheet of paper with everything scribbled all over the place, front & back. Great idea! :)

Is that Inman’s study guide I see? I remember studying that for hours! It helped me pass though. :-) Good luck on the RD exam and move! I too am making to-do lists and checking things off slowly as I plan a move to Chicago and hunt for jobs. Eek!

Yes for lists!
When I get stressed, the only way I can de-stress is by taking action.
When there is nothing I can do at the moment, I make an action list so that when I can take action I am ready.
