Hello from Atlanta! Our epic road trip got off to a smoothe start yesterday – the drive from Chapel Hill to Atlanta was relaxing and uneventful which is always appreciated when driving is concerned. We packed up the car for an 11am departure. I got myself a Venti Blonde coffee from ‘bucks and we were off – myself, Libby & her 90+-pound pup, Surya, also-known-as the World’s Best Snuggler. I could hardly take all of the cuteness going on in the back seat yesterday.

If you’ve ever driven from Chapel Hill to Atlanta you know there’s not much going on scenery-wise other than the Peachoid, a water tower posing as an oversized Georgia peach. Ironically, it’s in South Carolina and looks more like a bum than a peach if you ask me. Slightly awkward, no?

I started my day yesterday with an early 4 mile run before we hit the road – working out before sitting for long periods of time, especially in planes, trains and automobiles, makes a huge difference in my day so I’ve mentally committed to staying active every day along the way.

Libby and I are heading to a hot yoga class this morning before doing a little exploring in downtown Atlanta later this afternoon. We’re thinking of stopping by this Atlanta fashion designer’s open studio with real, live apprentices to observe a la Project Runway. Tonight I’m headed up to Athens for a home-cooked meal and sleepover with Lauren, one of our other grad school girls who’s now at UGA.
Come early tomorrow morning we’ll be on our way to New Orleans – I can tell already this trip is going to fly by. Have a great Monday!
xoxo

Oh that puppy is tres adorable!
I’ve always wanted to road trip and this just seems like so much fun — especially with the dog! Looking forward to reading as you make your way across the country. :)
Welcome to ATL!!! (Where I am from and live currently)! Enjoy the lovely city as well as Athens! Go Dawgs!
Hi Millie – thanks! We hit up Midtown for lunch and a walk in the park, it was beautiful yesterday! Athens was wonderful as well. :)
I agree that it majorly helps to get a quick run or workout in when you know you’ll be travelling all day and not moving much. Enjoy the road!
Sounds like the trip is off to a great start! Can’t wait to hear/see more of the details – you’ll be stopping in a lot of places I’d love to visit someday.
Heading to NOLA?? If you stick around for Wednesday night, you can come run with the Happy’s Running Club! Always a 5k loop, it starts and ends at Happy’s Irish Pub. This week is the Mardi Gras edition where participants are encouraged to wear purple green and gold and throw beads at the people we pass on a deliberately planned run through the quarter. Should be a good time!
Sounds like fun! We’re actually staying in the Business District so it’s right around the corner! What time does it start?
As quoted directly from the organizer himself: “Meet for 5:48, run for 6:16.” Strange times, I know. It is probably going to be raining…the forecast for the entire week looks that way
Hey! Can’t find you on Twitter but we are going to a power yoga class at Reyn Studio in CBD at 5:30 – no desire to run in this weather! Come join if you want!
Sounds like you guys are having a safe and fun trip!
love the idea of traveling across country with a great friend :)
