eats & exercise

March 4, 2013

The countdown is on – just 9 days until the big move and I’m starting to get that pit in my stomach more and more often – you know, the one that happens every time you think of another task you just don’t have time for or, worse, that you should have done already. The two things that ease those overwhelming feelings? List-writing & exercise. I’m armed and ready with my pen, paper and a short workout planned for every day this week, ready to tackle one nagging task at a time.

When I’m not eating up every last thing in my pantry or freezer, I’m probably having a big bowl of pineapple & cottage cheese. Breakfast, lunch, snack, bedtime snack – there’s really no time of day I’d pass this up.

My friend Lauren came up from Georgia for a quick visit this weekend. Thankfully she took my mind off of the bajillion things that need to get done for a little while! We started Sunday off with a 5 1/2 mile run on campus and took the afternoon to enjoy the UNC basketball game & a very salty, concession stand pretzel. The pretzel may be my favorite part of any sporting event.

My workout agenda this week:

  • Monday: 25 minute Sworkit workout – a new favorite butt-kicking, quick & dirty home workout app
  • Tuesday: 4 mile run before work
  • Wednesday: looking like a gym day weather-wise – 30 minutes on the elliptical/bike & some strength work
  • Thursday: Sworkit before work – heading to happy hour with coworkers after work as Friday is my last day at the office
  • Friday: a lunchtime 4-5 mile run on UNC campus – possibly my last one until our next girls reunion
  • Saturday: rest day – heading to NYC for a girls weekend of wedding shopping, cocktails & mani-pedis
  • Sunday: possibly a hotel gym workout pending the outcome of Saturday night’s festivities

What’s on your eats & exercise agenda this week?

You know, that is a classic combo I’ve heard of since my mom’s WW days back in the 80′s and I still don’t think I’ve ever tried it!! I’ve got both so you can bet I’m put that on my list of eats this week! So excited for your big move and to see lots of pics! (hint!) :)

Good luck with your move! I’m in the same boat, we close on our house next week and hit the road two weeks from today! I have been going through my freezer/refrigerator/pantry too. But, now I want to go buy cottage cheese and pineapple. I also love fresh tomatoes with my cottage cheese.

Eeek! Big move! If you like Sworkit, you should look into Nike Training Club… Similar set-up, but the workouts look to be a bit more challenging… I am a fitness instructor and these workouts still kick my booty! Definitely check it out if you haven’t already:)

Good luck with the move, it’s a lot of work, SO exciting though! I had cottage cheese with some fresh pineapple the other day, hit the spot! Thanks for the “sworkit” app mention, I’ll have to check that out!

Fresh pineapple with cottage cheese is one of my favorite snacks too, but it has to be fresh pineapple. I’ve tried the version where the pineapple comes already mixed in and it’s just not the same at all. Best of luck getting everything on your lists done! To-do lists and spurts of exercise are the best ways to be productive for sure.

We’re currently in the middle of a blizzard (crossing my fingers it is the last one for the season!) so it is looking like I will be doing a lot of indoor workouts… yoga and elliptical sessions. Good luck with the move! Everything will get done by the time it needs to :)

Gosh this sounds familiar. When my husband and I made our move up to the Bay Area just a few months ago, I was determined to use up all of the items in our pantry and fridge. I hope the apartment hunting’s going well! I can’t wait to hear about the place you and your hubby find. :D
